Kai Seki Magoroku Whetstone Fine 8000 Grit
The Seki Magoroku Whetstone 8000 Grit is a very fine Japanese finishing stone for polishing knife edges to a mirror-like finish. It is used after a fine stone.
What Is an 8000 Grit Whetstone Used For?
An 8000 grit stone is the final step in sharpening. Use it after a 4000 grit stone to polish the edge. It leaves a very sharp edge with a mirror-like shine.
Choosing the Right Grit
- Coarse (220 to 400 grit): Fast metal removal for chips, damage and reshaping.
- Medium (1000 to 2000 grit): Routine sharpening of a dull but undamaged blade.
- Fine (4000 to 8000 grit): Finishing and polishing to a mirror-like edge.
