Scanpan Cookware NZ
Scanpan has been making cookware in Ryomgård, Denmark since 1956, and it’s been a staple in Kiwi kitchens for decades. Its non-stick range is pressure-cast in Scanpan’s own Danish factory from recycled aluminium, so it heats evenly, won’t warp, and has a tough, PFOA-free non-stick surface that releases food cleanly.
We stock both sides of the range: Scanpan’s Classic non-stick roasters, and the Impact, STS and Coppernox stainless steel ranges, with saucepans, stew pots, frypans, woks and roasting dishes. Add pieces as you go, or start with a set. Visit our stores in Napier, Christchurch and Dunedin, or order online for fast NZ shipping.
Your Guide to Scanpan Cookware
Which Scanpan range is right for me?
Scanpan Impact
The everyday workhorse. Scanpan Impact is stainless steel with a thick, heavy base that spreads heat evenly and works on all cooktops including induction. It’s dishwasher safe, tough enough for daily family cooking, and great value, which is why it’s our most popular Scanpan range. Start with the Impact 3 piece saucepan set and add stew pots, a sauté pan or a wok as you need them.
Scanpan STS
A step up in stainless. STS is multi-ply clad stainless steel, so the heat spreads up the sides of the pan as well as across the base. A good choice for keen cooks who want more even, responsive heat for sauces and searing.
Scanpan Coppernox
Stainless steel cookware with a distinctive copper finish, made to look as good on the table as it does on the stove. The Coppernox stock pot with pasta and steamer insert is a long-time favourite.
Scanpan Classic
The range Scanpan is famous for. Pressure-cast in Denmark from recycled aluminium with Scanpan’s Stratanium non-stick surface, Classic heats fast and evenly and won’t warp. Our Classic roasting dishes, like the Classic Roaster 34 x 22cm, make roasts and bakes easy to clean up.
Stainless steel or non-stick?
Choose stainless steel for browning, searing, deglazing, boiling and simmering. It lasts for decades, goes in the dishwasher, and you can use metal utensils without worrying.
Choose non-stick for eggs, fish, pancakes and anything delicate, or if you want to cook with less oil and clean up quickly.
Most kitchens are best served by both: a stainless saucepan set and stew pot for everyday cooking, plus a non-stick pan for eggs and delicate food.
Caring for your Scanpan
Stainless steel (Impact, STS, Coppernox)
- Heat the pan before adding oil, then add food once the oil is hot. This is the key to stopping food sticking to stainless.
- Dishwasher safe, though hand washing keeps it looking new for longer.
- White marks or rainbow discolouration are normal and come off with a little vinegar or a stainless steel cleaner.
Non-stick (Classic)
- Use low to medium heat. Non-stick doesn’t need high heat to cook well.
- Wash by hand with warm soapy water and a soft sponge.
- Avoid aerosol cooking sprays, which can build up on the surface over time.
