The Baking Shell is a lightweight aluminium dome that sits over dough on any flat oven surface, trapping steam to produce a crisp crusted loaf without preheating a cast iron pot.

Heat passes quickly through the shell while steam stays trapped underneath. Lift it off halfway through baking and the crust sets crisp and crackling, with the classic rise you would expect from a heavy covered vessel.

There is no searing hot pot to lift or wrestle with. Slide the dough onto a flat baking surface, place the shell over the top, and the most awkward part of bread baking becomes the simplest part.

It also doubles as a cover for keeping a finished loaf fresh on the bench, a butcher block, or a cutting board.
